Shared understanding, everyday friendship and room to take part at your own pace in UTP's online peer community.
UTP welcomes adults aged 18 and over with psychosis-spectrum experiences, as well as adult caregivers and supporters.
Shared experience and ongoing friendship
It can mean a lot to talk with someone who understands aspects of what you’ve been through. Everyone’s experience is different, and there’s room to share your story in your own words, at your own pace, while learning from the perspectives of others.
UTP's private Discord community gives conversations a place to continue beyond scheduled groups. Members can build friendships, share creative projects, celebrate small victories, or pick up conversations where they left off.
With members from around the world, our community stays active throughout the day and night, offering opportunities to connect and seek peer support whenever you need it. While UTP is not a crisis or emergency service, our global community helps make connection and companionship available across time zones.
Room for support, company and creativity
- Time to listen and share. Scheduled groups bring peers together for a discussion guided by a facilitator, with space to talk about experiences and hear other perspectives.
- Everyday company. Text and voice conversations offer ways to talk about your day, share an interest, exchange encouragement, or get to know someone.
- Creative connection. Art, writing and shared projects give you another way to express yourself and connect. Your interests, humor and ideas all have a place in community life.
Explore our programs for more about these ways to take part.
Find your own way to take part
Everyone connects in their own way, and you’re welcome to participate at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Whether you prefer listening and getting to know others, joining conversations through text or voice, or connecting over shared interests, there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to. Participation in public outreach, including sharing personal stories or creative work, is always optional.
Our community meets on Discord, with a variety of conversation spaces organized by topic. Our joining guide explains how to get started. If you have questions about our groups, community activities, or accessibility needs, please feel free to contact us before joining.
A community built on respect
Clear community guidelines and attentive moderation help create a welcoming environment where members can speak openly, build friendships, and feel supported. We value mutual respect, personal boundaries, privacy, and the understanding that everyone’s experiences and perspectives are different.
Our welcome process introduces the community guidelines and expectations that help keep our spaces safe and supportive. While no online community can guarantee complete confidentiality, we take member privacy and well-being seriously and work together to maintain a space where everyone feels respected, heard, and welcome.
Peer support alongside professional care
UTP members and facilitators participate as peers. We offer social connection, shared perspectives and encouragement. We do not diagnose conditions, provide therapy or medical advice, or recommend medication changes. For questions about symptoms or treatment, speak with a qualified health professional. The National Institute of Mental Health’s Understanding Psychosis offers further information.
